Tubes & adenoidectomy: Take #1

Ethan was scheduled to get his 2nd set of tubes in and his adenoids removed this morning at 8am. It was scheduled at the surgery center where my good friend from nursing school worked and a friend of a friend that I met just a couple weeks earlier. So I had talked to them earlier about this procedure. I was more nervous this time because he had to actually be intubated and put under for the adenoidectomy. But I felt tons better after talking to my friends who would be taking care of him during it. So everything was set.

We had to arrive early to the surgery center for paperwork. I had packed a sippy cup and a snack for him to have when he woke up since he wasn't able to eat before the procedure. As I was signing my name on the last paper, I look over and Ethan had gotten into the diaper bag and was drinking from his sippy cup. Great. And it was milk - the worst thing to have before anestheisa. They double checked with the powers that be to see if they could still do it since he hadn't drank a lot....but no go. And I really didn't want to risk it either. So we went to plan B. The park. And I later got a phone call from my friend saying they had a "non-compliant mom" who let their kid have a drink before surgery! Ha ha!!

The next day, I loaded the kids into the Burley along with all their swimming gear and snacks and rode my bike to this little wading pool in a neighborhood close to us. It was pretty much all up hill. I rode on the sidewalk because I am paranoid and the street was a busy one. It was a pretty
crappy sidewalk. And it was super tough pulling an extra 60lbs!  So we got there and it was CLOSED!! No water in the pool and no one there to open it. The sign said it opened at 10 and it was 1030....I was so mad. So we decided to go home and play in our own pool instead.
