Updates on Ethan

Ethan is almost 16 months now and is 100% BOY! He is all over, all the time, never slows down, is always climbing on stuff and then falling down, usually has at least one bruise on his forehead and more on his legs. He's into my cupboards, playing with every light switch he can reach, messing with the remote printer, always trying to play with the phones or remotes, touching the TV and receiver. Even running out the door if it isn't latched. On several occasions, I have looked up to see his little blonde head darting out the door and heading for the front porch steps. He LOVES stairs; he goes down them like a big boy, rarely turning around to scoot down them on his tummy. When he's going down the basement steps, he's got ahold of my hand and the railing - but the railing is a little too high so he's kind of just hanging there for a second between each step before he figures out that he should just hold on to the wall for balance. Its pretty funny! He has finally started getting more bottom teeth in - just yesterday actually! He got his top 1yr molars in February and then his bottom 1yr molars just came in early March. He has had just the 2 center bottom teeth for what seems like forever and now the one on the right is coming in. Its about time!

Somehow he managed to fall head first into some mud....

He is getting better about sleeping through the night. Sometimes. A lot of factors play into this one. He was really snotty for a while which I think make his ears hurt and was probably getting those darn molars. He still sleeps in our bedroom so everytime he cries, we can hear him. So to try to avoid waking up Daniel, I had always just rushed to pick him up and move to the couch with him. Later I changed to putting him in bed with us. (Yes, I am a NICU nurse and I preach about how bad this is to do....but what am I supposed to do when I am so tired and just want to sleep in my own bed? My neck can't handle sleeping upright on the couch anymore!) If I put him in bed with us - everybody wins! Not really, I sleep but not that great. Anyway....he is getting better and part of that might be because my mom 'trained' him to lay back down when he was at her house and didn't pick him up. It worked for her - not so much for me but we are working on it. He screams bloody murder if I walk away from his crib in the middle of the night, like if I have to go to the bathroom, and then he's waking up Daniel and Isabelle and it turns into a party.

He still has his paci for naps and bedtime. He 'talks' more now I think. He can say Mama, Dada, no, milk (mickkkk), up, go, hot and sometimes nana for banana. Its funny when he's being naughty and I scold him or give him a timeout because then he just looks at me and babbles in the sweetest little voice, like he's trying to explain why he was doing what he was doing.

He's the youngest cousin on both sides of the family (until July when he'll have a new little boy cousin!) but he sure can keep up with them. All his cousins just love him and like to smother him with attention every chance they get. He's already a pretty tough little guy but they will make him tougher.
