Isabelle went to a Christmas party at church this afternoon. It was planned with the idea of giving parents a few hours on a Saturday to finish shopping, wrapping, baking, etc...whatever it was that parents needed to get done this time of year. I took a much needed nap. I went to the Dr this morning - upper respiratory infection. Awesome.
Isabelle had a great time at the party! She was a little reluctant to stay but they talked her into painting a heart on her hand. She sat so nice and still for them. Funny, at a Halloween party, she wouldn't let them paint her cheeks and here she was, sitting all nice and letting them do it. I snuck away at this point (which I felt horrible about) but when I picked her up, she had a Christmas tree on one cheek, a wreath on the other, and a candy cane on her other hand. The kids were watching Frosty in one of the meeting rooms and Isabelle was playing the piano. The gals at the church even said that she wasn't even banging on the piano, she was kind of playing it. More than one person asked me if someone at home played or if we had a piano...um, no. She's just musically inclined, I guess! Isabelle had a great time and did really well at the party! She decorated cookies and made an ornament for us to hang on the tree. There was a juggler at the party that I was told she loved to watch. And Santa visited and gave her a beany baby Christmas bear. The church also gave each family a book, "5 minute Bible stories."
That night we had a "Family Fun Night" courtesy of Aunt Nanny. Her gift to us this year was a night of good old fashioned family fun. We recieved a goodie bag with a puzzle, a memory/match game, a Christmas coloring book, Christmas goodies, hot chocolate and a CD of Christmas music. We had a great time playing and teaching Isabelle how to play the memory game. Then we put the puzzle together while Isabelle colored. It was a fun night and it was nice to have the TV off for a change.
